Resumen

O artigo fala sobre os cativos africanos e afro-descendentes nas áreas rurais do atual estado do Rio Grande do Sul. As diferentes paisagens histórico-culturais rurais dos campos da colônia, das fazendas do planalto, das estâncias e das charqueadas da fronteira meridional são reveladoras da diversa e intensa exploração da mão-de-obra escravizada nos territórios sulinos.
