Résumé

Durante a Guerra dos Farrapos, o governo do Brasil mobilizou diferentes grupamentos armados para derrotar os republicanos sulinos. Esta diversidade reproduzia a hierarquia social do Império e influía nos desígnios do esforço de guerra. Esta análise discute as diferentes possibilidades e recursos utilizados por militares do Exército e Guardas Nacionais que tentaram se recusar a ser mobilizados para a guerra.
