Résumé

Diários de viajantes, inventários e obras dos cronistas possibilitam um estudo sobre as fazendas de Mato Grosso. As narrativas dos viajantes engajados nas missões particulares são significativas à investigação proposta, pois oferecem conhecimentos sobre as propriedades pastoris, as atividades praticadas, o modo de viver no campo, as edificações existentes e também a mão-de-obra utilizada. Neste trabalho apresento algumas reflexões sobre a presença do trabalhador escravizado nas terras mato-grossenses, sobretudo à luz da literatura de viagem do século XIX. Palavras-chave: Mato Grosso.
