Résumé

Com este artigo pretende-se abordar alguns aspectos da crítica epistemológica do filósofo norte-americano Richard Rorty. O foco exploratório desta breve reflexão está pautado numa relação entre o conhecimento histórico e a criação de imagens universais de teor metafísico. Mediante alguns conceitos centrais do pensamento de Rorty, busca-se localizar zonas de tensão que propiciem a suspeita em torno de uma postura intelectual historicista para, a partir daí, comentar algumas contribuições da atitude hermenêutica frente à ciência e ao conhecimento contemporâneos.
