The history of the Christian Church,
synthesis of a living memory

This article aims to present a synthetic analysis of the first 300 years of the history of the Christian Church, divided into three main periods: the Apostolic, Persecuted and Imperial churches. Starting with the ascension of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost to the Edict of Constantine. In the first three centuries, the church was intensely persecuted. During this time, Christians faced severe persecution, but unshakable faith and ecclesiastical unity strengthened the Church, culminating in the acceptance of Christianity by the Roman Empire. In the fourth century, Constantine, the first Christian emperor, established religious freedom, guaranteeing tolerance to Christianity in the Roman empire. The results point to several changes regarding dealings with the Christian people, thus beginning a moment of peace for this religious group. For the completeness of this work, we focused on literary and bibliographical analyzes based on some national and international authors.
