Abstract

This article has four parts. In the first, “The Empire, a pre-national state, and the War of the Triple Alliance”, some central issues discussed by the Brazilian historiography of the Triple Alliance war are discussed. The second, “Brazilian Historiography of the War of the Triple Alliance - First Times”, discusses the origin of the national-patriotic historiography of the conflict, which did not know revisionist questioning in Brazil until 1979. In the third, “From the Revisionism of American Genocide to restoration academic-patriotic book of Maldita Guerra ”, the importance of the book by JJ Chiavenato in the dissolution of Brazilian national-patriotic historiographic phantasmagories is analyzed if the latter's efforts to overcome that rupture, achieved, in 2002, with the restorationist work of F. Doratioto . In the last part, “For a Historiography from the Viewpoint of the Populations of the La Plata Basin”, we present the “historiographic campaign” that we undertook, with the La Plata Basin Research Group, at the PPGH of the UPF, which followed in 2008-20 at that time. guidance.
