About the Journal

History

Revista Espaço Pedagógico was created in 1994, with an annual periodicity until 1998, becoming biannual in 1999. In 2017, the journal assumed a triannual periodicity, with publication in January, May and September. It publishes, in each edition, around 17 products, including articles, interviews, and critical reviews dealing with many diverse themes and problems relating to education.

Its creation in 1994 goes back to a context of qualification of the teaching staff of the Faculdade de Educação (FAED), carrying out an important role in the research expansion of the Universidade de Passo Fundo, and in the creation of stricto sensu postgraduate programs. In that sense, it contributed to the implementation of the Master's Program in Education in 1997. As of 2003, the journal underwent several changes, with a new Editorial Team composed exclusively of Doctoral researchers of external institutions, increasing, since then, the participation of authors from other institutions, Brazilians and foreigners. In the context of the creation of the Doctorate Program in Education, which took place in 2012, Espaço Pedagógico has gone through new changes, updating stylistic elements and aspects relating to its focus, scope, editorial policy, author guidelines, and so forth.

The printed edition (ISSN 0104-7469) was discontinued in 2017, maintaining only the online version (ISSN 2338-0302), which was created in 2009. In the online platform, we provide free and integral access to the latest editions. Gradually, we are making available editions prior to 2009, in an effort to publish retrospectively, in spite of a scanned version, all of our volumes that compose the history of Revista Espaço Pedagógico, as you can check up in the “Archives” section: (http://seer.upf.br/index.php/rep/issue/archive)

Over the years, Universidade de Passo Fundo has subsidized with private resources our publications, since the journal does not receive financial support from development agencies or from access fees and is available in open access. The commitment of the Faculdade de Educação and the Postgraduate Program in Education with its maintenance and support stands out over these years. The management of Revista Espaço Pedagógico is done by a dedicated group of professors who spend a substantial part of their working time planning and organizing volumes, helped with the technical support of employees committed to academic demands.
