Abstract

Based on the studies ofPoi and Andreassen, teachers are the ones who will have the first contact with children who undergo a situation of dental avulsion in permanent teeth because this usually happens during school activities. It was aimed, in this work, to evaluate students from the Pedagogy college - UPF and their Ievel of residual knowledge following a lecture on the issue. This evaluation was ma de through an objective questionnaire composed by ten subjects, applied to three groups of the last levels of the course (33 :valid questionnaires). This was applied in three stages, the 1st before explanatory lecture about the subject, the 2nd soon after the lecture and the 3rd accomplished four months after the lecture. The results found were similar to the ones of Poi. The knowledge previous to the lecture was small and confuse, after the lecture there was knowledge assimilation, but some of this knowledge was lost after four months. Thus, it is verified the importance of transmission of this knowledge and the need of, besides transmitting i~on a lecture, leaving printed material about avulsionreimplant at schools, for its correct application when necessary. Key words: avulsion-reimplant, questionnaire, evaluation.
