Abstract

The attacks of September 11, 2001 were used as a new historical landmark and many political speeches alerting the world about the “new” enemy, Islamic terrorism, were appropriated by several countries, becoming an international anti-terrorist strategy. The conflicts initiated by George W. Bush were not ended during his term; new terrorist groups and new conflicts emerged, remaining a burden for his successors. The aim here is to expose the main aspects of the fight against terrorism undertaken by the USA during the government of George W. Bush and its impacts on cinema and then to map and situate some productions and themes that surround the government of Barack Obama, in order to understand them within the historical process of the War on Terror, in an analysis of the film records and film writing of this chapter in the history of the United States of America.
