Abstract

The iron and manganese mining practiced by the Vale, Vetria and Vetorial steel companies in the municipalities of Corumbá and Ladário, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, produce diverse losses for settlers of agrarian reform and rural communities, through the contamination of the water, unviable to human consumption and agricultural production. It is added that the contamination of the water also damages the ichthyofauna deploying in the existence of practically dead waterways. Thus, this mining carried out by capitalist companies generates, on the one hand, production of value-of-exchange (commodities), and on the other, the devaluation and annulment of natural resources for survival in communities and settlements.Key words: Water, Mining, Rural Communities.
