Abstract

 The Paris Comune, which occurred in 1871, was the result of organization of workers who took the power in France, establishing the first workers government in history. Given this, the proletarian-popular social revolution is considered a milestone in the history of the labor movement. This paper aims to analyze the cinematographic work entitled “La Commune (Paris, 1871)” by Peter Watkins (2000), which includes in its context the events that were part of Paris Commune. This proposal meets the relationship between history and movie theater, which considers film production as a historical research document. Therefore, this paper intends to interpret the work from a critical perspective, seeking to understand how the film builds its on narrative about the historical events seeks to represent.
