Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the problem of violence based on the opposition between open violence and structural violence. It starts with a critical contextualization of violence to subsequently find convergences of this criticism in the praxis and discourses of Ravachol and Émile Henry, two well-known anarchists adept at propaganda for the deed. Finally, it seeks to counter the hegemonic discourse on the legitimacy of violence in political action, in order to rescue in history a discourse of resistance to pacifism imposed by force by modern states.
