The pedagogy of oppressed by Paulo Freire and the teaching of philosophy with children

We weave reflections on the teaching of philosophy with children in public school in this article, based on the Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire, seeking to verify how the educators promote the formation of the child’s logical, critical thinking and creativity. This teaching is carried out in public school in the city of Belém, by popular educators from a popular education nucleus linked to a public university of the State of Pará, as an extension activity. It was carried out bibliographic research with documentary survey in this study, in which readings on the teaching of philosophy were effective, the education of Paulo Freire, among others, as well as the survey of reports of extension activities of the aforementioned Popular Education Nucleus, children’s books produced by the nucleus and others used in activities and how they were applied in teaching philosophy with children at school. Among the results, it is highlighted that the children in the activities performed analyse the contents, conceptualize, argue and express their worldview, developing the capacity for critical, logical and creative thinking in the teaching of philosophy.
