The article analyzes the practices of the Specialized Educational Service for children’s education in the Municipal Teaching Network (RME) of Caxias do Sul (RS). The questions guiding are: How is the organization of the Specialized Educational Service for children’s education in the RME of Caxias do Sul (RS)? What is the qualification of the professionals attending the children targeted by Special Education? How way has specialized educational support been offered to children and babies considering the compulsory education at four years of age? This is a qualitative research, constructed by means of semistructured interviews with the special education manager and two teachers of the Specialized Educational Service for Children’s Education. It was found that the aforementioned Network faces limitations in the offer of support service for young children, such as the lack of space for individualized attendance, the roaming condition of the specialized teachers, which makes it difficult to establish a link with the attended children. These difficulties are also faced in the offer of Early Childhood Education, since the network does not have its own Pre-primary Education schools, acting under agreements with the Private School Network.
