Abstract

This text rescues political and pedagogical issues of well-known and modern authors regarding the relationship between social justice, democracy and education, and highlights their validity in our days. Apart from considering Comenio as an important precedent for a basic, ordinary and equal education, this text analyzes –in the same line, his pedagogical principles in order to present Rousseau’s and Condorcet´s legacy in such interrelations, as well as Comte’s legacy as regards the development of a civic religiousness, and Durkheim’s insights about such interrelations. By recognizing the validity of these legacies, new challenges for current education in terms of social justice, democracy and education are proposed.
