The management of intellectual property rights: analysis of technology-based incubators in the state of Santa Catarina

Abstract

Innovation is fundamental to socioeconomic development, but just as important as creation is the protection of intangible assets. The management of intellectual property is a way to protect creations and add value to them. In technology-based incubators, incubated companies have the potential to generate new business, and hence the need for proper protection of intangible assets. This research aims to analyze how technology-based incubators in Santa Catarina contribute to the management of the intellectual property of incubated enterprises. In the end, it is concluded that the management of intellectual property in technology-based incubators in Santa Catarina is still incipient, as it was identified that few practices are adopted for the protection of intangible assets.
