This present article intends to develop a relationship between pluralism, democracy and the creation of new rights through the political theory of William E. Connolly. Taking as it starting point a very specific reading Connolly´s conception of agonistic democracy, the article investigates how the various struggles between different social groups could bringing about new rights that simultaneously legally protects the demands and prerogatives of those groups and institutionally preserves the space of adversarial conflicts that is crucial for an agonistic democracy. This adversarial relation, in its turn, reinforces the critique and contestation of normative standards and axiological references within the social field, practices that contributes for the reconfiguration of the social and the entry of new political actors in the political arena of agonistic democracy.
