This article addresses the general panorama of environmental law in Nicaragua. The constitutional framework of environmental law is first analyzed in the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of Nicaragua, and the international treaties signed by the country on environmental matters, including those related to pollution, biodiversity, climate change, wildlife, and wetlands. Likewise, the jurisprudence on environmental matters issued by the Supreme Court of Justice of Nicaragua is studied, related to issues such as the Concession of Natural Resources, fishing permits and forestry exploitation.
