Abstract

This is a critical review of the book “Reimagining our futures together: a new social contract for education”, published in 2024 by LeYa Educação. The book is organized by António Nóvoa, and refers to the challenges and possibilities of global education, highlighting the need for a new social contract for education that promotes peace, justice and sustainability. It represents the report of the International Commission on the Future of Education, created in 2019 by UNESCO. The book is organized into three parts, addressing broad and comprehensive issues that are part of the global educational context, proposing reflections on the reality experienced, as well as presenting horizons for thinking about the education of the future. The book emphasizes education as a collective and public right, indispensable for social transformation, integrating different cultural and social spaces, broadening the possibilities for lifelong education. Finally, it reinforces the urgent need to rethink the role of education in the contemporary world.
