This article aimed to provide an in-depth theoretical analysis of religious ableism, with an emphasis on Christianity. The research explores historical aspects, the relationship between disability and the Christian religion, as well as possible strategies to combat religious ableism. The research, of a bibliographic nature, is based on secondary sources, such as books, academic articles and other relevant documents. The text examines the role of religion in shaping conceptions of ableism throughout history, suggesting a critical analysis of these aspects to avoid their perpetuation and promote the adoption of an ethics of care, to prevent segregationist attitudes. The links between the Christian religion and ableism are discussed, based on the theology of dominion and its historical roots. Finally, as coping strategies, it proposes constant discussion on the intersectional nature of disability, overcoming the medical model and valuing social justice to promote an inclusive and equitable approach.
