The article discusses the challenges of conscientization as an educational process fundamental to confronting contemporary barbarism. It analyzes social contradictions arising from structural violence, inequality, and commodification, engaging with Paulo Freire’s thought and his proposal of humanizing education. It is based on the understanding that conscientization constitutes the pedagogical mediation that articulates the confrontation of barbarism with human rights education. The research adopts a qualitative approach, grounded in Freirean hermeneutics and articulated with a dialectical perspective of reality. The aim is to explain the potential of critical-problematizing pedagogy as a path toward emancipation and humanization, highlighting its contribution to the realization of human rights in Brazil.
