This text discussed the context of advances in Field Education in Brazil, showing that there are still many obstacles to achieving a higher quality education in rural areas. The Field Education, with its humanist educational proposal, aimed at agricultural workers, opposes Rural Education, institutionalized in Brazil since the colonial period, to serve only the interests of the ruling class. With the struggle of social movements, rural education gains space in society through the institutionalization of public policies aimed at meeting the educational needs of the peasant population. The study makes it clear that there are still many challenges to be sought in order to meet the demands of Field Education, mainly due to the increasing number of schools closed in the rural area, which has significantly harmed the students who need it.
