This is exploratory research of the integrative literature review type that aimed to analyze themetacognition in the education of nursing professionals. From the selection of 11 articles after applying the inclusion/exclusion criteria, it was possible to detect 03 categories: Metacognition and science teaching; Metacognition and teaching in Nursing and metacognition in the field of health. The study made it possible to glimpse the interface of metacognition with the development of teaching-learning in the training of nursing professionals and the need for a more critical look at the processes of knowledge acquisition of these future professionals. It is expected that new studies will be conducted so that we can better understand the relationship of science and health education in nursing education as a tool capable of producing changes in the current scenario of care provision to users of health services in our countryDownloads
