This article aims to carry out a theoretical reflection on the possible existence of an approximation between the references of Meaningful Learning and Multiple Representations, from the perspective of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), in Mathematics, within the scope of Elementary Education. It was necessary to constitute a synthesis of the BNCC, approaching its historical context, structure and objectives, with the identification of approximations between the document and some of the fundamental ideas of the theory of Meaningful Learning and of the references of Multiple Representations related to the teaching of Mathematics. It was observed that the content of the BNCC presents considerable correlations with the research references, especially for highlighting in several thematic units the need for the interaction of the mathematical object with the previous concepts of the students and the use of different representational modes identified in specific skills and competences from the area.
