The present study sought to analyse the challenges to teaching practice based on the narration of teachers in interviews with the television channel STV on Mozambican Teachers' Day. In its approach, the research is descriptive. initially bibliographic sources and government documents and later proceeded with the interviews' transcription, analysis, and description. The results show that the challenges to teaching work are the student-teacher ratio, the conditions of school infrastructure, the school material provided by the State, the salary that is combined with non-compliance with the timely payment for overtime work, the need to empower teachers in the use of information and communication technologies. It is concluded that there is a need to pay more attention to the conditions in which teaching is carried out, because no matter how qualified the teacher is, competence can be compromised by the context in which his work is carried out.
