This work is based on the premise that it is necessary to consider the relevance and pertinence of the conceptual category of suffering in order to support listening in healthcare practices, from a psychoanalytic perspective, since it has become clear to us that the way in which a healthcare professional conceives suffering conditions the way in which they care for (or don't care for) it. General objective: to describe and analyze which conceptual operators are fundamental and act as guidelines for approaching suffering in health institutions, especially in situations that require the professional to be clear and assertive in order to intervene, with a view to improving health care practices in three necessarily interconnected areas: the clinical area, the institutional area and the area of training for health professionals.
