The practice of research has come to be regarded as an important part of teachers' professional development, serving as a means to enhance pedagogical practice through reflection on and in action. Thus, the central issue of this study lies in understanding how research has been incorporated into teacher training practices and the impacts of this integration on teachers' professional development and the quality of education. The study aims to review the literature produced in the educational field that discusses research from the perspective of teacher training and professional development. The methodology adopted was a systematic literature review, including dissertations and theses published between 2019 and 2024, available in the CAPES Theses & Dissertations Catalog. The results revealed that the training of teacher-researchers fosters a reflective approach to teaching and enables the transformation of practices to address what is not working in this context.
