This article is a theoretical essay that seeks to reflect on the place of teaching and the role of instructors in community higher education institutions, advocating for the formative dimension. To this end, from the perspective of the philosophy of education, it questions the forces of neoliberal rationality that operate with a pragmatic utilitarianism, reducing the dimension of education to efficiency and measurable results in universities, aiming to explore other possibilities of thought and existence in this space, evaluating the narrative dimension that is constituted in the practice of teaching in university instruction.
