This article presents the first edition of the HidrogeoDia in Mato Grosso do Sul as an educational outreach initiative focused on the value of water, territory, and community participation. Held in the municipality of Rio Verde, the event brought together public-school teachers from primary education and offered theoretical workshops, field trips, and pedagogical trails centered on reading water landscapes and the water cycle. The methodology was dialogical and interdisciplinary, inspired by problem-posing education and place-based learning. Results indicate improvements in scientific literacy, critical awareness of water resources, and willingness to implement contextualized pedagogical practices. The activity also highlighted limitations in conventional teaching materials. The article proposes expanding HidrogeoDia as a state-level environmental education program, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), and SDG 13 (climate action).
