This article analyses the full-time school in the perspective of integral education, which is a public policy for the development of an integrated curriculum. For this purpose, it examines the Federal Law nº 14.640/2023 and the Municipal Decree nº 2286/2025 of Barão/RS in order to grasp the municipality’s proposal in light of the guidelines established in the Federal Legislation and the municipal decree, as well as their articulation with the principles of education and full development of the individual. Having a documentary nature, the research suggests that the Federal Law represents a legal milestone and provides necessary instruments for the expansion of school hours, while the municipal decree translates these guidelines into practical actions adapted to local demands. In these documents, the curriculum is understood as more than a list of mandatory contents, rather, it is conceived as a project of integral formation that incorporates social, cultural, and democratic dimensions. From this perspective, the study highlights a classic example of federative cooperation, in which the municipality operationalizes the national model in accordance with its specificities.
