This theoretical study seeks to historicize multidisciplinary practices focused on health and inclusion in education of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The medical model and the social model of disability have significant repercussions for targeting interventions to people with ASD. Focusing on the social model, we seek to present, discuss and analyze the theoretical advances and intervention strategies focused on the areas of education and health, which expand the possibilities of inclusion of people with ASD in educational and social spaces. Initiatives based on the social model of disability have favored new practices and coordination between health and education. Such practices expand the opportunities for participation and learning of the person with autism and their families, proposing new perspectives and perspectives, which unfold in possibilities of early intervention, proposals for curricular accessibility, specialized educational assistance and mediation in the learning process.
