Can a country's education reference document tell us about the place of authority in culture? It is this question that we seek to answer in the discussion that follows. The reflections that will be exposed here are the result of doctoral research, in which we aim to make notes about the presence of the capitalist discourse, as theorized by Lacan (1972), in contemporary pedagogical discourse. Our investigation took a piece of pedagogical discourse, the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), for an analysis of the fluid movement between what circulates in culture and what falls into the document, interfering in the work of educators in our time. Our analysis highlighted excerpts from the document that concern important aspects regarding authority. The first aspect is what we call “autonomism” and the second inflation of the student's potentialize.
