The use of textbooks in early childhood education

This article is the result of two theoretical researches, which investigated the use of textbooks in early childhood education, making notes based on Childhood Studies. Therefore, it is proposed: i) to analyze the concepts of childhood, children and early childhood education present in textbooks aimed at children; ii) understand the place of reading and writing processes in this stage of basic education. As a methodology for writing this text, it was developed a documentary and content analysis of volumes I and II of a work approved in the National Book and Teaching Material Program (PNLD-2022) and which was adopted in several public schools of Minas Gerais municipalities. The results point out that the conceptions of children, childhood and early childhood education are supported by a didactic organization linked to Learning Rights. However, most activities favor mechanical reading and writing tasks intended for preparation for elementary school.
