The present study aimed to compare the current Mathematics curricular program with the BNCC proposal and its implementation in the area of Mathematics on the Campus Pelotas of the Instituto Federal Sul-Rio-Grandense (IFSul). To this end, meetings were held. Based on a focus group of Mathematics teachers from that location. After contact with the competencies and skills established by BNCC, teachers were able to compare them with the current curricular program of technical courses. After discussions, the following considerations were reached: for some, this was their first contact with the document; when making the comparison, they identified that there are approximations, that is, a lot is already being done; a gap was noted in student training due to the lack of approach to statistical content, with the exception of the technical course in Chemistry; and, finally, the proposal of a methodology with greater protagonism of students in the elaboration of problems and in the construction of mathematical conjectures.
