This is a dialogue-interview, focusing on the formative history of the interlocutors, whose paths crossed in the late 1990s, when a friendship began that continues to this day. Guided by the hermeneutic stance, this intellectual encounter methodologically takes the form of a lively dialogue, the most important aspect of which is to listen seriously to what the other has to say and, paying attention to their questions, to question the interlocutor's own statements. The objective is to offer the Latin American public, and especially the Brazilian public, the opportunity to learn, through Dirk Stederoth's rich and conflicting personal experience, some aspects of German school and university education. It is an experience that seeks to critically distance itself from the dominant colonizing Eurocentrism and, in contrast, open itself up to dialogue with strange cultural traditions that are distant from its own culture.
