By addressing innovations in the field of education, the article highlights the presence of digital technologies not only in education but also in various spheres of contemporary life. Despite a certain enthusiasm about their potential, it draws attention to the already widely recognized harmful effects of the rampant use of digital devices. For a critical evaluation of this context, it reconstructs central aspects of what is inherent to education, including the conditions of authority and precedence. In the absence of accountability from adults, the notion of innovation, taken as a value in itself, ends up indicating the way new generations are inserted into the human world. Without adopting a technophobic stance, the article considers it essential that educational institutions provide a base of curricular references so that students can establish themselves as subjects, enabling a critical and qualified engagement with the world.
